Parasol : the New chic

For my white skin under the sun, i wear small waterproofed
silk hand-made parasol from Michel Heurtault.

"Obsessed with umbrellas since childhood, the French artisan Michel Heurtault opened this Parisian atelier-boutique in 2008 after 20 years of working as a costume designer and corset maker for film, theater and fashion. Through the windows of the vaulted shop, clients can watch him construct made-to-measure umbrellas and parasols using waterproofed and UV-protected silk, taffeta, linen and cotton, then hand-finish them with button fixtures instead of snaps. “Umbrellas have been vulgarized as disposable objects,” says Heurtault, who’s committed to creating silhouettes as sturdy as they are stylish. “When beautifully designed, they can give instant allure and attitude to a chic ensemble while providing ultimate protection and comfort.” (From Zeva Bellel NYT)

" Instead of a cigarette, you have an umbrella to play with.
It’s the final touch to a chic silhouette. " Michel Heurtault
